Benefits of
Long-Acting Injectables

Why Choose a Long-Acting
Injectable (LAI)?

This type of treatment is a natural step in long-acting symptom control. Instead of taking a pill every day, LAIs are given by your healthcare provider. They release medicine slowly into your body over time.

This means you get steady, around-the-clock symptom control—so you can stay focused on what matters most to you.

How is an LAI different from other shots?

Some injections are given in a hospital for fast, short-term relief. LAIs are different. They are designed for ongoing, long-term use—helping you keep your symptoms under control day after day.

Gradual Release

What makes LAIs different from a daily pill is that the medication is designed to be slowly released into your system over a specific period of time.

  • For example, the active medication in a daily pill may be released over 24 hours, so you must take it daily. But the active medication
in INVEGA SUSTENNA is gradually released over a month after 2 initiation doses
  • After being adequately treated for at least 4 months with INVEGA SUSTENNA , for certain adult patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, you and your healthcare professional can make the decision to shift
to INVEGA TRINZA or INVEGA HAFYERA, depending on the dose of INVEGA SUSTENNA you are taking
  • INVEGA TRINZA is a 3-month treatment
  • INVEGA HAFYERA is a 6-month treatment

With a continuous amount of medication in your system, you can feel more in control of schizophrenia symptoms and help delay the time to another episode because you don’t need to take a schizophrenia pill every day.

Did you know?
94%
of adults with schizophrenia prefer fewer injections—once every 3 or 6 months over once a month2†
Based on results from a market research survey of randomly selected adult patients with schizophrenia (N=200). A subgroup of patients were daily oral antipsychotic users who were open to a healthcare provider recommendation of any LAI option (n=140), and among those patients, 94% (n=132/140) indicated that they would prefer to move from a 1-month option to a 3- or 6-month option vs remaining on the 1-month option.
